Showcase of Work for Instructional Technology in the Classroom

Task 1: Resume
Union University's Career Services department came to class and taught us about creating a resume.  I brainstormed how to best represent who I am and what I have to offer to future employers and then went ahead with the writing and formatting process.  Career Services then edited my resume and gave it back to me to make changes.

Task 2: Web Site
I created my own website, which you are on, using weebly.com.  Weebly is a web 2.0 technology and is very user friendly.  I have continually been able to use and add things to this website.

Task 3: Record Book
I used Microsoft Excel to create an attendance sheet and a grade sheet.  These will be used to keep electronic record of students' class attendance and their grades in an easy, clear format.  I foresee myself using these or soething similar in my ownclassroom someday.

Task 4: AUP and Copyright
I learned about the different guidelines that are in place dealing with acceptable use and copyrighting of material.  I used Microsoft Publisher to create a sign that I would put up in my classroom informing students about AUP and Copyright guidelines.  This was helpful in being aware of copying things for my class when I am a teacher.

Task 5: Video Integration
I took my Tennessee Curriculum Standards and pulled out the things that I would be focussing on.  I then went to learn360.com and youtube.com to watch videos that addressed content within my standards.  learn360.com is a great website with hundreds of videos for instructors.  I placed the information of two videos into my standards page.

Task 6: Photo Journal
I brainstormed a field trip that I would take my high school math class on.  I chose to go look at how triangles are used at a baseball ballpark.  For this task I took pictures at the field that would be used for instruction later on.

Task 7: Puzzles/Games
For my field trip I created a word list and definitions for those words.  In this task I took those words and put them into a word search game using puzzlemaker.com.  Feel free to try it!

Task 8: Bookmarking
I used the web 2.0 tool trailfire.com to create a chain of websites for instruction.  The tool allowed me to link from one webpage to the next and comment on each page.  This trail is open to the public, so I can send my students there to do activities at home on the internet.

Task 9: Collaborative Multimedia
I used voicethread.com to create an instructional assignment that can be used by students wherever the internet is.  voicethread.com allows you to create a slide show and comment on each page with either text, drawing, or a voice over.

Task 10: Interactive Game
I used Microsoft PowerPoint to create a question and answer game.  This used pictures from my field trip and questions associated with them.  It is a great game tool for reviewing concepts for a class.

Task 11: Job Aid
I learned how to thoroughly explain a process in simple, step-by-step instruction.  I used this job aid in my PowerPoint game to explain to students how to print the score card.

Task 12: Lesson Plan: In Time/LPI
The first step  in designing my lesson plan was to watch clips of actual classroom teaching.  I watched two of these videos and took notes.  I then moved into creating my first lesson plan.  I integrated my PowerPoint game from Task 10 into it.

Task 13: Newsletter

Task 14: Article

I was given the opportunity to read an article about using technology in a math classroom.  It was about a new typed of tool called the TI-nspire.  The article was a review by a teacher of the technology which was very insightful.

Task 15: STAR Center
